News From Senior Lead Officer

Just wanted to take a minute to give everybody an update. I have been loaned out of the Senior Lead Office for the past several months working the Van Nuys Property Crimes Detail and the Gang Enforcement Detail. While loaned out of the office a temporary Senior Lead Officer has been in place handling the area for me. As of January 1st I will be transferring out of Van Nuys Division due to my recent promotion to Sergeant. They will be replacing me as so as the paperwork and selection process can be completed. I want to thank each of you for making my job so easy, over the past three years your basic car area has lead the division in crime reduction and has the lowest crime numbers in the area. This is because of your hard work and involvement in your community. I have left whoever takes over every thing they need to continue in the same direction and once they are in place I will meet with them to answer any questions they have to get started. Once in place the new officer will E-mail everybody and set up meetings to meet each of you. In the mean time if you need something you can call 818 731-2562 and whoever is handling the area can help you out. Officer Hamilton

New Neighborhood Watch Creating Togetherness

The neighborhood watch group formed in the Library Square section of Sherman Oaks was created to alert residents of any crimes occurring in the area, but it is also helping people to make new friends and get to know their neighbors.

Coyote Sightings in the Sherman Oaks Neighborhood

Late last week (Thurs) and yesterday morning (Mon, 10/17) I saw 2 coyotes on Albers between Hazeltine and Woodman. Please post a warning on the neighborhood watch board for people who own cats and small dogs to keep them in at night. When I saw the coyotes last Thursday morning (6 am), they had already killed a black cat.
